According to the organisers, The Run-a-muck Challenge is a cross country running event over a wet and mucky course with various man-made and natural obstacles including bale jumps, net scrambles, Tarzan swings, ladder bridges, ditches, streams, tyres and tunnels designed to test your mental and physical strength, and to leave you with a great sense of achievement and a big grin on your face...they're not wrong!
We know it's not a triathlon but a few of us on the committee did this last year and it really is as much fun as you can have running around in the muck! The 5km obstacle course is run either once or twice, depending on your fitness and also your madness.
The event this year takes place on Saturday 5th March 2011 in the grounds of Clonkeeran House, near Johnstown Bridge, Co. Kildare. All proceeds raised on the day will go to charity.
Individual entry is €20 and Group Discount is available for €16 if you have 6 or more people signing up together. There is definitely an interest amongst members to enter this as a bit of pre-season training so post on our Facebook page that you are looking for others to make up the group discount!
