The Kilkenny Smarter Travel Office has organised a ‘Family Day of Fun’ for Saturday 25th June 2011.  Kilkenny Smarter Travel Office aims to promote and encourage people to get around by walking, cycling, using public transport and other forms of sustainable transport.

Next Saturday will see a huge range of activities including Kilkenny's first view of some of the leading hybrid and electric cars, fun exercise activities including walks, cycles and demonstrations and talks on healthy food and the latest trends and information on the health and environmental benefits of switching to smarter travel for all. The emphasis will be on a fun family day out including puppet shows, free music on the street and celebrity led activities, with two recently introduced new businesses in the city - The Kilkenny City Road Train and Kilkenny Cycle Tours been highlighted.

As part of the Smarter Travel Family Fun Day there will be a fitness challenge event where people will be riding on a stationary Watt-bike and seeing what kind of watts they can produce! Some local celebrity sportspeople will be taking the challenge and members of KTC are also invited to take part. There will be a league table going so we can see how our members are doing!
