Mount Juliet Training Day - Saturday 16th July
Hi folks, following on from the success of our first training day we have decided to do it all again. There are some changes from the first time. Firstly, we wish to thank Mount Juliet estate for facilitating us on a very busy Saturday for them. We ask that all those attending the day respect the other users of the estate and the grounds themselves. iPods and any other portable music devices are not permitted in the estate or on the cycle for health and safety reasons. Participants are also reminded not to enter the paddocks with the young foals along by the run course.
This is the ideal way to finish your training for the Kilkenny Triathlon the following Saturday!!!
The training day will be for Kilkenny Triathlon club members only (it is essential that you bring your KTC membership cards on the day).
We need to have the list of people who wish to attend by 12 noon on Wednesday 29th June.
Please take note of the above. We cannot accept any participants after this date. This is a request from Mount Juliet in order to enable use of the top car park as it is expected that the estate will be very busy that day. They need these numbers of safety reasons and also for use of the showers.
Please enter the estate via the Oldtown gate and not through the equestrian gate.
We intend to use the same route as before.
Participants will be required to sign in at the start of the cycle and the run. There will be marshals at the Stonyford National School, Knocktopher Roundabout, Knocktopher Village, the N10/N9 turn in Ballyhale and at the Fish Farm just beside Jerpoint Abbey. This is to ensure we all take the correct route. The roads will be open to general users, so participants are reminded to be conscious of their safety and others on the road.
The run will be 6km in length. There will be a marshal at the turnaround point at Boher Gate. All participants need to be present at 13.30 in Mount Juliet.
This time we will be giving the option of a 40km cycle (2 Laps). This should take 40-42 minutes per lap. These cyclists will leave at 13.45. For those doing the 20km cycle there will be transition training at 13.50.
The medium pace (45 mins. for 20km) will leave at 14:20 and the fast pace (40-43 mins.) will leave at 14:25.
All groups should return to Mount Juliet at the same time. Cyclists can go faster or slower than the group they are in if they wish. We hope to have a person in each group who will set the desired pace.
At the conclusion of the run shower facilities will be available in the Leisure Centre and food will be available to purchase in the bar.
If you are not participating but would like to be involved we need volunteers for marshals!!!! Those assisting in running the event, including Committee members, will need to give their name for inclusion on the list and have their cards available on the day
